Band Saw Operator – Structural Steel Manufacturer (Lubbock, TX)

Compensation: $17.00–$20.00/hr (based on experience)
Employment Type: Full-time, on-site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, day shift

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Snelling is recruiting a Band Saw Operator for a well-established manufacturer in Lubbock, Texas. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, precision cutting, and contributing to large-scale construction projects that shape communities.

As a key member of the production team, you will operate industrial band saw equipment to cut steel beams, pipe, tubing, and other materials to exact specifications. This position offers stable hours, competitive pay, and the opportunity to learn additional fabrication skills within a respected local company.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate horizontal and/or vertical band saws to cut structural steel materials to precise measurements
• Read and interpret work orders, cut lists, and blueprints
• Measure, mark, and position materials for accurate cutting
• Monitor machine operation and adjust feeds, speeds, and blade settings as needed
• Inspect finished cuts for accuracy, squareness, and quality
• Safely move raw materials and finished components using hoists, forklifts, or other equipment
• Perform routine maintenance on saws, including blade changes and lubrication
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Collaborate with fabrication and production teams to meet deadlines and output goals

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous band saw operation or manufacturing experience preferred
• Experience working with structural steel, pipe, or metal materials is a plus
• Ability to read a tape measure accurately (including fractions)
• Basic blueprint reading skills preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed
• Forklift experience is helpful but not required
• Candidates with related production, fabrication, or machine operation experience are encouraged to apply
