Logistics/Inventory Control Manager job summary

Our fast-growing, technologically driven manufacturing client is seeking a Logistics/Inventory Control Manager to manage the activities of the shipping & receiving, stores and manage the inventory of materials for their company. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of inventory/logistics supervisory experience with the ability to develop and implement policies and procedures related to shipping & receiving.

Logistics/Inventory Control Manager responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily workflow and schedules of the departments.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to shipping & receiving and stores with a goal to maximize efficiency and optimize workflow. Identify problems and inefficiencies present and implement solutions to address these issues.
  • Familiarity with rules and regulations of import/exports of goods. Along with required documents, documentation, etc.
  • Oversee and direct generation of documentation required for outbound shipments including, but not limited to, packing list, bill of lading and export documents.
  • Coordinate and control all freight claim disposition.
  • Direct and coordinate activities concerned with new inventory. Direct shipping and consignment of inventory.
  • Maintain current knowledge of logistics and technology developments and trends; recommend and implement improvements based on this knowledge to provide more efficient service to internal and external customers.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce transportation costs and charges.
  • Plan and manage logistics, warehouse, and transportation.
  • Maintain inventory in the ERP system for parts, supplies, and materials used.
  • Direct, optimize, and coordinate full order cycle.
  • Conduct frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
  • Maintain consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock, raw materials, cable, and parts up to pre-authorized limit as inventory needs dictate.
  • Assess inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
  • Generate, manage, and maintain forecasts on stocked parts, raw materials, cable, etc.
  • Coordinate and control backlog and pending orders.
  • Suggest write-offs of damaged or obsolete inventory to reflect accurate value of inventory.

Logistics/Inventory Control Manager qualifications

  • Proven negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to exercise tact, courtesy, and ethics when dealing with vendors, co-workers, and customers.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as inventory   software.

Logistics/Inventory Control Manager and/or experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field with coursework in inventory control management, required.
  • 5+ years of inventory/logistics experience required with supervisory experience preferred.
