FITTER – STRUCTURAL / FABRICATIONLocation: Lubbock, TX Employment Type: Full-Time | On-Site Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day ShiftPay: $17-18/hr DOE ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYSnelling is recruiting a Fitter for a well-established fabrication and manufacturing company in Lubbock, Texas. This role is ideal for a hands-on tradesperson who takes pride in precision work — measuring, aligning, and assembling steel components that will be welded into finished products.The Fitter plays a critical role in the fabrication process, ensuring materials are properly prepared and positioned prior to welding. This position offers steady hours, a team-oriented shop environment, and the opportunity to work on structural steel and custom metal assemblies.If you enjoy blueprint-driven work, problem-solving on the shop floor, and contributing to high-quality fabricated products, this could be an excellent long-term opportunity. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and weld symbolsMeasure, layout, cut, and fit structural steel componentsAlign, clamp, and position materials to precise tolerancesTack-weld assemblies to prepare for final weldingPrepare joints through grinding, beveling, and cleaningVerify dimensions, squareness, and fit prior to weldingSafely move and position materials using shop tools and equipmentMaintain a clean, organized work area while following safety protocolsCollaborate with welders, supervisors, and production team members to meet quality and production goals QUALIFICATIONS Prior experience as a Fitter, Fabrication Fitter, or Structural Fitter preferredStrong ability to read blueprints and fabrication drawingsSolid measuring, layout, and math skillsExperience working with structural steel, plate, pipe, or fabricated assembliesFamiliarity with tack welding and joint preparationAttention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipReliable, safety-minded, and team-orientedAbility to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs as needed Candidates with varying levels of experience are encouraged to apply — training and growth opportunities may be available for the right individual.
